In this moment, I am happy

As I was biking home in the dark tonight, I realized that I was happy. It sounds cheesy, I know, trust you me. Even though I am a big sucker for romances and all those cheesy punchlines, I still have that “meeh that’s only in movies”-feeling (is that a recognized feeling?). Anyway, while I was riding my bike it just occurred to me how calm I felt right in that moment.

I had just been to a pre-christmas dinner at my parents’ house with my sister and her boyfriend + his Italian family. They had of course cooked this absolutely disgustingly delicious italian food (one of my favorite types of food btw, so Clara(me) was happy), we had a really nice evening, and after eating I was literally falling asleep in the chair, thus leading me to decide to jump on my bike and go home to my dorm.

I turned up the music – I am currently listening to Sam Smith’s album In the Lonely Hour on repeat. So on a full stomach, maybe a little too excited for Christmas eve the next day, with Sam Smith’s A-mazing voice in my ears, I got on my bike and headed home. Usually when going from A to B, it’s mostly out of having to, rather than wanting to, and I admit it, so was tonight, but while I was on my way home, I just relaxed, and I actually enjoyed it.

This is really just a super random update – I am so happy right now; Christmas is here, my American family is coming to visit in a couple of days (haven’t seen them since the summer of 2013), and everything is just pretty good to be honest. Maybe this upload can serve as a little reminder to myself, that once in a while you just need to remember to notice and appreciate the good. It is so easy to focus on the bad stuff – it’s easier to talk about. But tonight, in this moment, I am happy.

Here’s the tune of the day: Loving it! Sam Smith, your voice is divine.

Merry Christmas to everyone – enjoy it!

A Shot of Art

I’m back! – This time with something completely new – are you ready? I am, so here we go!

As I am an art student, a lot of my time is spend taking pictures, painting, drawing – all that. My last project was a photo project, and to be honest and not modest at all: I think it turned out pretty damn good!
You may have seen Annie Leibovitz’ portrait of Whoopi Goldberg in a tub of milk? If no, you should google it – it’s pretty iconic. I was inspired by this picture, and chose to put a friend of mine in a tub of “milk” (“milk” because it was powdered milk dissolved in water – don’t have the money or the cows to fill a tub with milk!).
Let’s not stall this anymore. Here are the pictures! (Model: Olivia Sinclair)

There you go – you have now seen the first of my ‘serious’ art. I am pretty proud of how these pictures turned out, and I can’t tell you how excited I was while editing them. I kept shrieking of joy and giggling of pure excitement. This was also exaggerated, as right before we took the pictures, I had this idea of how they were going to be rubbish and amateur-looking. BUT THEY DIDN’T! *at least that’s what I think – of course it’s up to the individual, as art is : )

I hope you enjoyed this little ‘shot of art’, hopefully I will be able to do more posts like this!

Here’s a little ear candy for the fourth of December:
Speaking of December – How excited am I for Christmas this year?! Can’t wait! And may I just add that Pentatonix is probably one of my favorite music groups at the moment – they have been for maybe a year now since I first heard their cover of Lorde’s ‘Royals’. Have I said this before? If I have here’s just a “gentle” reminder as to why they are so awesome.

Merry Christmas or happy december if you are not into all that baby Jesus stuff, I hope it’s a good one! 🙂

Fall favorites

Well hello again beautiful people,

Fall is coming to an end, and the cold cold winter is taking over once again. In Denmark the cold is really starting to hit, which I actually don’t mind all that much. To me winter is a time for a big cup of tea, blankets and just cuddly times and not to forget Christmas and all that! Anyways back to autumn – this autumn has been surprisingly warm in Denmark, but I am a person who loves a nice sweater/jumper etc – layering is just the best thing. I love a chunky knit with a pair of black pants – just a very simple and gorgeous look. As I mentioned in my Selfie Sunday vol. 1 I have been loving me some red lips, and fall just allows you to wear the darker colors that adds a little feminine mystery to your everyday look.

I am wearing my newly purchased grey sweater from H&M that I looove (link here)! It is not too thick, so it is wearable even when it’s not freezing outside, and when that time comes you can always throw on a top or long sleeved shirt underneath to give you that extra layer of protection (which you will need if you live in a place like Denmark!). And of course you see me sporting the wonderful lipstick, which I have already mentioned: the Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss for Rimmel London in the shade 107. I believe that I am wearing a lipliner from Gosh underneath called Velvet Touch Lip Liner in the shade 003 Cardinal Red. Adding the lipliner just makes the lipstick last longer and gives a depth to the color – not to mention it makes the lines more refined, which makes the lipstick look a-mazing!

Another trend that I have been loving for quite a while now, is the black eyeliner – sometimes winged, sometimes not – mixing it up! Usually for day-wear I just do a simple line, and then when I go out I give it a little extra spice. I always use a liquid liner, because I adore the sharp line, which you won’t get from a regular pencil liner. When I started out I used the liquid eyeliner from H&M (yes, I am a huge fan of H&M as you might have gathered) – it is so easy to apply, and allows you mess up, remove, and reapply without making a mess, so it’s really good if you don’t trust your liner-skills. I have recently moved on to some other liners – currently I’m using the Lord & Berry liquid liner in Forever Black, which is really nice and stays on for a full day. I treated myself a couple of weeks ago and bought the new-ish Push Up Liner from Benefit, and I am in awe! It is absolutely amazing, it is so easy to apply, and it looks fabulous!

This picture is actually from the first time I applied it – ever! And I am utterly impressed. So black, so matte, so wonderful. It lasts for days (not a joke, I’ve tried) and it is perfect for a night out or a day in the outdoors – anything where you need a stronger and longer lasting makeup. I don’t use this for everyday use because it is so long lasting, and therefor also a bit tricky to get off (I do use the Benefit They’re Real Remover, and since my skin is very sensitive it can’t handle the heavy makeup all day everyday – the Push Up Liner is quite expensive, so it is also to prevent myself from going broke from buying makeup (it’s close already!). No but really, this liner is amazing and just Benefit in general is one of my favorite makeup brands – so check it out if you haven’t!

If you follow me on instagram you will already have seen these pictures, if you don’t, you should!

Todays ear candy:

I hope you liked todays post, and have a happy/spooky Halloween!

xxClara

(I’m not sponsored in any way, I’m just really excited about makeup, even though it doesn’t look that way in the picture!)
